Tornado Wire Fencing Competition: NSA Sheep Event 2026
The Tornado Wire Fencing Competition will be taking place at the NSA Sheep Event, Three Counties Showground, Malvern, on 28th July 2026, and it promises to be the biggest and most demanding contest yet.
Widely regarded as one of the highlights of the event, the competition offers visitors a unique opportunity to watch some of the UK's most skilled fencing contractors compete head-to-head, demonstrating the expertise, precision and professionalism required to erect high-quality stock fencing.
Competing teams will be tasked with erecting a section of Tornado high tensile stock netting approximately 60-70 metres in length, with two end straining posts and a slight turn towards one end. Teams of two will have three hours to complete the challenge, putting their technical skills, teamwork and efficiency to the test.
New for 2026 we will be using a combination of traditional skills with timber, and the latest innovation in steel namely the Pro-strain® system.
Used for the first time at Scotsheep, Pro-Strain® proved to be a real standout on the day. Competitors worked under timed conditions to construct stock fencing to a high standard, and the system performed exceptionally well throughout.
Feedback from both competitors and judges was overwhelmingly positive. Many highlighted how quick and efficient the system was to install, without compromising on strength or finish. The consistency it helped achieve across builds also stood out, particularly under the pressure of competition conditions.
Importantly, several teams commented on how well Pro-Strain® supports modern best-practice fencing techniques, making it a practical solution not just in competitions, but for everyday use in the field.
The competition will commence at 10:00am and conclude at 1:00pm, with judging taking place immediately afterwards. The presentation and prize-giving ceremony will be held on the Tornado Wire stand at 3:00pm.
An impressive prize fund is up for grabs, including:
- 1st Place: £1,000 plus the opportunity for the highest-placed UK team to travel to New Zealand, to compete in the prestigious Silver Spades Competition in 2027
- 2nd Place: £400
- 3rd Place: £200
