Prominent Brexit campaigner to open NSA Sheep 2016
20th July 2016
July is set to be a busy month for successful Brexit campaigner, George Eustice, who has not only retained his position as Defra Farming Minister following the Cabinet reshuffle, but will also officially open the NSA Sheep Event on Wednesday 27th July 2016 at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern, Worcestershire.
George Eustice will be speaking at 10:30am at the official opening on the NSA stand (Stand 178). Many hope he will be able to provide support to concerned farmers following the result of the EU referendum, particularly given the assurances he made during.
“We’re delighted George Eustice has not been affected by recent Government restructures and is able to return to the Sheep Event after he officially opened the last event in 2014,” says NSA Chief Executive Phil Stocker.
“In these incredibly turbulent times it is helpful that our Farming Minister has retained his position, as this at least gives us some continuity for the future. He has been joined in this area of responsibility by Andrea Leadson, meaning we now have a ministerial team that supported the case to leave the EU and should be fully committed to ensuring the future decisions support our industry properly. We look forward to starting our post-Brexit discussions with Mr Eustice at NSA Sheep 2016 and hearing his comments on what the UK-equivalent of the EU Common Agricultural Policy might look in the future.Mr Eustice comes from a farming background, and his family still run a fruit farm in Cornwall, so he is aware of the challenges currently facing farmers,” Phil concludes.
The NSA Sheep Event is an essential visit for anyone involved in the sheep industry, and entrance is free to NSA members. Find more information at www.sheepevent.org.uk.
